Tackle Kids Cancer Lets Young Survivors Get Involved at Northern Trust

In order to get inside the ropes and onto the greens at the Northern Trust, you have to be a VIP, and on hole 17, that includes some very important patients.

Tackle Kids Cancer helps raise funds for pediatric cancer research at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital in Hackensack. It’s alos the official charity of the Northern Trust golf tournament, and this weekend, it’s giving pediatric cancer survivors the chance to participate during the tournament.

Survivors like Lianni Montero and Maggie Wright were among those who got to participate while also meeting golf greats like reining US Open Champion Gary Woodland.

“I see a lot of parallels between professional athletes and children that are facing a life-threatening illness — it takes endurance, it takes stamina, focus, determination,” says Dr. Judy Aschner, physician in chief at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital.

Tackle Kids Cancer has raised more than $7 million for child cancer research over the last four years.
