With the region's most comprehensive pediatric program, Hackensack Meridian Children's Health at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, located at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, is committed to keeping children healthy by providing the highest quality of care.


At the heart of our pediatric network, Hackensack Meridian Children's Health at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center is one of a select group of state-designated children’s hospitals in New Jersey, and the first and largest in Monmouth and Ocean counties. At our core, we're 330 community pediatricians, obstetricians, and family practitioners working side-by-side with the region's largest group of more than 30 pediatric sub-specialists.
Our state-of-the-art facility includes a 24-hour pediatric emergency department and intensive and acute care units. The pediatric acute care inpatient service includes two units with 31 private patient rooms. The expanded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, includes ten private rooms and enables the hospital to provide the most advanced health services for the region’s critically-ill children. The hospital also offers a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Regional Perinatal Center, with 13 beds and nine private bassinet rooms, for the care of women experiencing high risk pregnancies and their babies. The Trauma Center at Jersey Shore University Medical Center has been verified as a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. Jersey Shore University Medical Center is the only hospital in Monmouth and Ocean counties, and the eastern part of New Jersey to earn this elite designation. It is one of only three hospitals in the state with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center certification.
In 2018, Jersey Shore University Medical Center opened the HOPE Tower on its east campus. This 10-story facility houses an array of pediatric outpatient programs and services encompassing the building’s entire 5th floor. They include allergy, cardiology, psychiatry, neonatology, infectious disease, nephrology, urology, concussion management, gastroenterology, endocrinology, pulmonology, general surgery, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, sleep medicine, rheumatology, genetics, radiology, anesthesia, child psychiatry, adolescent medicine, child abuse, cranio-facial, child development, palliative care, pain management and more.
It also includes The Dorothy B. Hersh Foundation Center for Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Now all pediatric patients diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders can be treated close to home at at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital. Currently, 48 patients are on observation or chemotherapy at this time and the development of a comprehensive pediatric cancer program is projected to result in an additional 25 patients annually as pediatricians and the community learn about The Dorothy B. Hersh Foundation Center for Pediatric Hematology.
